Carbon removal at Oxford
As a certified B Corporation, our mission is to inspire and help teams and organisations make better choices in a 3P world
While we monitor and reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible, we know that reaching net zero also requires credible, permanent carbon removal.
We allocate 100% of our carbon capture costs from flights to certified carbon removal projects through our partnership with Ecologi. These initiatives reflect our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
Here, you can find out more about how we calculate and remove carbon, and where we are on our journey.
Oxford's carbon footprint
We use Plan A to calculate our emissions
Almost all of our emissions are Scope 3, because we are an almost entirely remote business and keep travel minimal. The impact of the Covid pandemic gave us an even sharper view on where we could mimimise Scope 3 emissions.
Why Plan A?
Plan A is a B Corp certified, corporate carbon accounting software provider. Their reports are compliant with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the Science Based Targets initiative.
62%
Business travel
Minimised where possible, our business is global and some travel is required.
34%
Purchases and supplies
We assess how to make supplies as planet-friendly as possible and look at innovative ways to reduce physical supplies where virtual is feasible.
4%
Office and home working
We have a small office in the UK, but otherwise our business is totally remote, with consultants across the globe.
Our carbon emissions have changed over time
2019
We started to offset our travel
We supported Climate Care portfolio of projects - Gyapa Efficient Cookstoves, Ghana, & Aqua Clara water filter project, Kenya to offset 165 tonnes.
2020
No offsetting
Due to virtually no business travel during the pandemic
2021
we increased our budget for offsetting
200 tonnes - Climate Impact Partners, Gyapa Efficient Cookstoves, Ghana
2022
We moved to removals rather than offsetting
350 tonnes - supporting a certified aforestation project.
2023
We chose a longer-term removal option
427 tonnes by supporting the Delta Blue Carbon Project via Ecologi
2024
Supporting Delta Blue Carbon Project
411 tonnes removed in continued support of the Delta Blue Carbon project which plants mangroves.
How we tackle the 3 carbon removal scopes
Scope 1
Our direct emissions e.g. company cars
This has remained c.4t between 2019 – 2023 and dropped to 0 by mid 2025
Scope 2
Indirect emissions from purchased energy
This reduced when moving to a smaller office in 2021, and with recent improvements in the supply of renewable energy
Scope 3
Indirect emissions from our value chain
Purchased goods and services, business travel and Employee Commute (working from home) are the largest categories
Here you can see the impact of adjustments we've made to value chain emissions over time (scope 3)

Last year we removed 391 tonnes of carbon
Scope 1: 2.6t | Scope 2: 2t | Scope 3: 387t
We removed all scope 1, 2, 50% purchased goods & services + all other Scope 3
