| In March 2020, Oxford became a certified B Corp. It was a moment filled with pride, optimism, and a bit of uncertainty about what would come next. |
| We had just signed the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence - a commitment to use business as a force for good. We believed in every word. And yet, we were only at the beginning of understanding what it meant to live those words every day. Now, five years on, as B Corps celebrate 10 years in the UK, we’ve been reflecting on what this journey has taught us, and why we’re committed to being a B Corp. |

A benchmark for what good looks like
The biggest lesson has been this: Being a B Corp isn’t an achievement. It’s a benchmark. It asks you to consistently meet — and then try to exceed — a standard for what good looks like in business.
Certification validated the good we were already doing.
The last five years have been about proving that we can keep doing it, even when it's hard (especially when it's hard!)
We’ve stayed true to our values
Our values have remained constant:
The belief that people come first.
That business should improve the communities it works within.
That the planet should not pay the price for business success.
That profit matters, but what we do with it matters more, investing in our people, our wellbeing, our growth, and our impact.
Being a B Corp has confirmed the importance of these values.
The journey hasn’t been linear, but it’s been real
Like many organisations, the last five years have brought ups and downs: economic uncertainty, political instability, markets shifting, clients navigating their own pressures, not everyone always aligned on what “good” should look like.
And yet, despite all that, we’ve stayed committed to the path we chose in 2020.
Much of this progress is captured in our annual B Corp Impact Reports, which you can find here:
Here are a few highlights that stand out:
Reducing our environmental impact
As a consulting firm, we knew travel was our biggest carbon footprint. We’ve worked hard to be intentional about when we meet in person, and when we don’t. Where travel is essential, we’ve partnered with clients, used verified removal projects, and continually raised our expectations around offsets and accountability. In 2024 alone, we contributed to removing 337 tons of carbon. Our travel policy, included in our client proposals. is clear about these commitments.
Putting our people first
Across our three most recent Impact Reports, one thing is consistent: wellbeing, happiness, and inclusion.
We’ve invested in learning, leadership development, team support, and more inclusive ways of working. And we’ve kept evolving how we ensure our people feel supported, listened to and included because we know culture is never “done”.
We measure inclusion, using the Gartner model which includes trust, belonging, diversity and psychological safety dimensions.

Sharing knowledge more widely
One of our early uncertainties was how a commercial consultancy could “share what we know” for wider community benefit. We’ve managed to do this consistently year on year, working with a charity organization called Impetus. We’ve shared our tools and thinking to help their partners and beneficiaries and we continue to support and contribute to local community initiatives like NourishNJ in North America.
Why it matters to us
Being a B Corp gives us a broader awareness of our impact, and the guidance and discipline to make that real. It reminds us to be better, even when it’s challenging. It keeps us honest, especially when the world feels uncertain. And it strengthens our conviction that doing good, and making profit not only can coexist, they strengthen each other.
Five years in, we remain committed.
Ten years of B Corps in the UK is something worth celebrating.
